In a small community like Snyder, Texas, it’s good to know that you can still venture into a mom & pop pharmacy and receive the same great service we received over 60 years ago. Snyder has undergone many changes over the years, but it’s still a great community filled with great people investing every day to make sure it stays that way. McWilliams Pharmacy is proud to be part of this great community.
Our History
In 1951 Roy and Rayburn Burgess opened Burgess Professional Pharmacy at 4002 College Avenue (then Avenue S) in the building later occupied by Eddie Peterson Pharmacy.
In May of 1965 Jerry McWilliams joined the staff of the pharmacy, an in November of that year the business moved into a new building at 3706 College Avenue (our current location).
Jerry, and wife Paula, then bought out Roy Burgess and renamed the business Burgess-McWilliams Pharmacy.
After Jerry’s death in 1987, Paula took over the pharmacy. The McWilliams’ youngest son, Mike, became the pharmacist in 1995.
In 2000, Mike bought out his mother’s share of the store and and renamed the business McWilliams Pharmacy. In 2003, Paula retired.
McWilliams Pharmacy currently has 8 employees, and in addition to prescription and over-the-counter medicines, the store specializes in unique gift items as well.
